This release presents previously unreleased live recordings by the Albert Ayler Quintet, captured during the 1966 “Newport in Europe” tour in Copenhagen and Bordeaux, along with a 1967 Newport Jazz Festival performance in the U.S. Although recorded by local radio and television stations, these tapes remained unheard for more than fifty years.

Now officially issued for the first time, these performances have been restored and mastered from newly discovered sources. They document what may have been Ayler’s most fully realized mid-1960s ensemble, offering powerful evidence of the group’s collective intensity, spiritual fervor, and explosive cohesion.
